- Act as a resource and supervisor to all staff working within the area
- Act as a mentor/preceptor/supervisor to students and other learners
- Promote an environment that is conducive to quality learning and assessment
- Degree or equivalent in Nursing (RGN qualified) with active NMC Registration (Adult)
- Recent nursing experience in the UK
- Have the experience and confidence to work without supervision in the Neonatal Unit
- Be able to attend deliveries and initiate resuscitation and assist the medical team
- Have the expertise to care for every level of the sick neonate, at times with minimal support
- Be able to support junior staff and parents and attend regular scenario training facilitated by doctors and, on occasion, lead sessions themselves
- Be willing to accompany midwives on transfers and maintain skills by attending off-island placements
