Salary: £43,954 - £59,343 per annumJob Summary:We are seeking a dedicated Team Leader to provide support to our Community Mental Health Services. The Team Leader will work closely with the Ward Manager, offering senior leadership to the team while also deputising as necessary. Emphasising service management and delivery, the role involves fostering professional standards within the team and promoting a recovery-focused model of care.Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments of service users with complex care needs, including undiagnosed conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate care programs tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff in care planning and implementation.
  • Initiate risk assessment processes and take necessary action to minimise risks.
  • Lead the team during emergency and acute situations, ensuring comprehensive support.
  • Utilise data to identify service user issues and guide decision-making processes.
  • Promote service user involvement in care planning and delivery.
  • Facilitate effective communication with the multidisciplinary team and other involved agencies.
Training and Education:
  • Promote health and well-being among service users and their families.
  • Act as a mentor/supervisor to students and other learners.
  • Develop learning programs to meet staff educational needs.
  • Maintain personal and professional development, pursuing graduate status.
  • Stay updated with additional skills relevant to service user needs.
Leadership/Managerial:
  • Assist in maintaining professional and procedural standards for best practice.
  • Monitor quality improvement metrics in collaboration with the ward manager.
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Coordinate team communication and address work-related issues.
  • Ensure team awareness of organizational objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as a role model for junior staff, promoting high standards of practice.
  • Assist in shift planning and delegation of clinical activities.
Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with service users, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure clear and sensitive communication across various settings.
  • Represent the ward at meetings and events as needed.
Audit/Information Technology/Research Activity:
  • Initiate and undertake clinical audits to maintain practice standards.
  • Utilise incident reporting systems to document risks and actions taken.
  • Promote evidence-based practice among staff.
  • Take a lead in specific aspects of practice development.
Other Duties:
  • Ensure quality information management using computer systems.
  • Participate in annual performance appraisals.
  • Adhere to organisational policies regarding health, safety, and respect in the workplace.
  • Contribute to creating a respectful and dignified working environment.
Essential Criteria:
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development at Diploma Level.
  • Portfolio demonstrating competence at Band 6 level.
  • Teaching/supervisory experience.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse professionals and working independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with a proactive approach.
  • Flexibility in service delivery, including availability for 24-hour service.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Caring and empathetic approach to service users.
  • Proficiency in IT skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Qualification or learning evidence in relevant psycho-social interventions.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Teaching/Mentoring qualification.
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or equivalent.
  • Diploma in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
