Finance OfficerDepartment: Finance & ProcurementEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: GuernseyReporting To: Head of FinanceDescriptionRole Purpose:To assist the business and Financial Controller to reconcile transactions across the general ledger and sub-ledgers together with other key accounts. Preparing month end reports to support Financial Controller and Financial Analysts to ensure internal processes are followed.Key ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:Principally accountable to Financial Controller.Duties may vary but will typically involve responsibility for:
  • Provide actionable oversight of internal purchase orders, service orders and timesheets monthly
  • Provide support and cover for Finance Officers
  • Ensuring correct general ledger postings within the Dynamics 365 system
  • Assisting Finance Business Partners / Financial Analysts with variance analysis
  • Assisting Project & Asset Accountant with monthly costing reports
  • Preparing and processing any journals as required
  • Supporting the month end process
  • To provide backup and support to Billing Officer with rechargeable invoices
  • General ledger and project reconciliations where required
  • Assisting with year-end process and ad-hoc support for Internal/External Auditors
  • Keep all reconciliation procedural documentation up to date and valid
  • Support the end-to-end review of processes by suggesting ideas for improvements that could benefit reconciliations
  • To maintain security and confidentiality of all data held in the financial system and any other system required to record information
  • Assisting with ad-hoc Finance projects
  • Support will be given to undertake studies to attain an approved/professional financial accreditation, if desired
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseKey skills and personal Attributes:
  • A willingness to learn various finance aspects of a commercial business
  • A good level of computer software skills, including Excel and Word
  • High level of attention to detail and convey information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to identify errors and work to deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
  • A good understanding of double entry bookkeeping and reconciliations would be advantageous
  • Preferable knowledge of Dynamics 365, Xero or similar accounting software
  • Appropriate handling of sensitive information
  • Part or fully AAT, CAT qualified, but not essential
