Electrical Solutions EstimatorDepartment: ElectricalEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: GuernseyReporting To: Team LeadDescriptionWorking within our small commercial office, where you will visit both domestic and commercial customer premises to provide advice on electrical installations and repairs, including the provision of fixed price quotations and time & material estimates.Deal on a day to basis with customers, M&E consultants and architects as well as sub-contractors, therefore a friendly manner and an ability to get along with people and manage professional relationships is essential.We use the SimPRO field working solution to manage our quotations and job execution, full training will be given.Key Responsibilities1. The quoting & planning of a diverse range of electrical and heating systems in industrial, commercial and domestic premises.
2. To ensure that all works carried out comply with IET Regulations where relevant and that Health & Safety procedures are followed to comply with Company Health & Safety policy and legally required standards.
3. To work closely with the GEL Electrical & Plumbing team in building awareness of market opportunities and to collaborate in the development of new services to meet market needs.
4. To liaise with customers, manufacturers, suppliers, designers and sub-contractors on design, installation and maintenance issues. 5. To visit customers advising on works required and assist in the production of quotations and project evaluations. 6. To promote the company and all its service offerings and provide customers with advice on the systems installed and how to operate in an efficient way. 7. To undertake out-of-hours emergency call-out duties as required. 8. Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection. 9. Such other duties as may be allocated, and interchange of duties as required. 10. Demonstrate the core values and behaviours of Guernsey Electricity Limited.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Completed a formal apprenticeship, qualified to a minimum standard of NVQ level 3 in electrical installation works or equivalent
  • To have gained or be working towards Technician Membership of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (TMIET)
  • Must be able to demonstrate considerable experience in electrical installation and maintenance work and a good working knowledge of the current IET Regulations
  • Hold or working towards Qualified Supervisor status with the NICEIC
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and internal colleagues
  • Commercial awareness
  • Hold a current category 'B' driving licence
  • Basic computer skills
  • A pleasant and friendly outlook with a positive customer focus
  • Awareness of health & safety management
  • Demonstrates a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies, and critical success factors
